License Education:

Certified General

  • 180 hour in appraiser course
  • 15 hours of which must be in Uniform Standards for Professional Appraisal Practice

Certified Residential

  • 120 hours in appraiser course
  • 15 hours of which must be in Uniform Standards for Professional Appraisal Practice

Licensed

  • 90 hours in appraiser course work
  • 15 hours of which must be in Uniform Standards for Professional Appraisal Practice

Registered

  • 90 hours in appraiser course work
  • 15 hours of which must be in Uniform Standards for Professional Appraisal Practice

 

Continuing Education:
  • 28 hours of continuing education classes within 2 years of renewal
  • 7 hours of which must be the Uniform Standard for Professional Appraisal Practice
Other Requirements:

Certified General

  • Complete 3,000 hours of appraisal experience over a minimum 30 month period; 1,500 of  those hours must be non-residential appraisal experience

Certified Residential

  • Complete 2,500 hours of appraisal experience over a minimum 24 month period, 1,500 of those hours must be non residential appraisal experience

Licensed

  • Complete 2,000 hours of appraisal experience over  a minimum 24 month period

  • Topics include influence on real estate value, legal considerations, types of value, economic principles, real estate markets and analysis, property description highest and best use analysis, math and statistics, sales comparison approach, site value, cost approach, income approach, valuation of partial interests, standards and ethics

  • 3 1/2 hour time limit
  • 100 Multiple choice questions

Licensed

  • 6 hour time limit
  • 150 Multiple choice questions

Certified Residential

  • 6 hour time limit
  • 150 Multiple choice questions

Certified General

  • 8 hour time limit
  • 150 multiple choice questions
