The following is all the information needed for obtaining a salesperson license and how@ Home Prep can help pass the state exam!

License Education:
  • 60 hours of prelicensing courses
Continuing Education:
  • 10 hours of continuing education every 2 years
Other Requirements:
  • Must be 18 years old
  • Must have a high school diploma or GED
Applications: To apply, contact the state of Hawaii (808) 586-2643. There is a $25 application fee that must be submitted with the application.
Reciprocity

 Hawaii does not currently have reciprocal agreements with any states, but does currently have an equivalency program.

Examinations:
  • The testing company is Pearson Vue and can be contacted at (800) 274-0501
  • The exam fee is $68
  • Test is divided into two sections, National and State, which comprises 130 questions
  • 4 hour time limit for both sections
  • Topics on the general portion of the exam include Real property characteristics, definitions, ownership, restrictions, transfer, property valuation and the appraisal process, contracts and agency relationships with buyers and sellers, property conditioned and disclosures, federal laws governing real estate activities, financing the transaction and settlement, brokerage options
  • Topics on the state portion of the exam include duties and powers of the real estate commission, license requirements, requirements governing activities of licensees, brokerage relationships in real estate transactions act, penalties for violation, Kansas real estate recovery revolving fund
