- Must be 18 years old
- Undergo a criminal background check
- Must have 2 years experience as a salesperson in the last 4 years

| Examinations: |
- The exam is administered by Pearson Vue (800) 274-0501
- The exam fee is $75
- The exam is divided in to two sections, state and national sections with a 3 1/2 hour time limit
- Topics on the general portion of the exam include Real property characteristics, definitions, ownership, restrictions, transfer, property valuation and the appraisal process, contracts and agency relationships with buyers and sellers, property conditioned and disclosures, federal laws governing real estate activities, financing the transaction and settlement, brokerage options
- Topics on the state portion of the exam include duties and powers of the real estate commission, license requirements, requirements governing activities of licensees, brokerage relationships in real estate transactions act, penalties for violation
